Assist with inspection, repair, installation, and wiring of all plant electrical and electronic apparatus, devices, and circuits of any voltage including switch gear, transformers, and related equipment.
Required Skills:
Requires lifting up to 50 pounds; the ability to frequently stand, walk, and bend; and occasionally climb, push, pull, kneel and crawl. Operates tools and equipment including computer equipment, test equipment, bridge crane, ladders and scaffolding, welder, conduit bender, personnel lift equipment, portable drills, steam cleaner, floor crane, electrical tools and hand tools. Required to operate a motor vehicle. Regularly exposed to heat, cold, dirt/dust, moist conditions, chemicals, vibration, noise, and electrical risks. Required to work in confined areas and at heights of up to 600 feet. Personal protective equipment requirements may include the use of a respirator, safety glasses, hearing protection, and numerous types of hand and face protection, i.e., gloves, face shields, goggles, etc. Must have good color vision to see wiring terminations and color codes, and have good hearing due to alarms throughout the plant site. Must be respirator qualified. Must be able to develop plans and goals, present information to others, work under pressure to meet deadlines and meet overtime demands as needed.
Experience Required:
Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions at a level acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) certificate. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of electrical drawings, troubleshooting, and repair at a level obtained through five years of experience as an electrician in an industrial plant, or three years of equivalent electrical experience plus successful completion of an Electrical Technology vocational program or an approved electrical apprenticeship. Experience working on low-voltage and medium-voltage equipment (up to 7.2KV) is required. Also experience working with desktop/laptop computers and common operating system and productivity software is required. Experience in programming and working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.
