Nursing Support Services Supervisor - Omaha (8am-4:30pm, 40 hrs, Mon-Fri)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises personnel and operations nursing Support (float),PRN and nursing agency personnel.
  • Responsible for the day to day staffing of facility nursing personnel.
  • Maintains knowledge of position control for all shifts and nursing staff assigned.
  • Must be competent in knowing, understanding and articulating system policies and processes.
  • Responsible for building unit based orientation schedules for new nursing employees.
  • Responsible for teaching the scheduling process to new nursing employees during new employee orientation.
  • Responsible for instruction of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) to Madonna clinical staff.
  • Responsible for providing assistance as directed by the supervisor, which may include data entry, record keeping, organization and management of special project work.
  • Oversees supplemental staffing, which includes Madonna support (float) staff, Madonna PRN staff, and agency nursing.
  • Collaborates with Nurse Supervisors and Nurse Directors to assure optimal use of supplemental staff for unit scheduling.
  • Coordination of CPR/ACLS materials and classes, and providing guidance for registration and scheduling.
  • Develops and operates within budgeted staffing expenses.
  • Attends leadership classes and completes training classes as offered by the facility.
  • Manages quality assurance data collection, analysis, and outcome improvement strategies related to support staff.
  • Oversees the processing of time sheets for nursing department staff and verifies information related to hours worked for supplemental staff.
  • Acts as primary contact for Omaha nursing employeeâ??s questions or concerns related to scheduling.
  • Documents absences of attendance and informs units and manager of all absences in order to maintain accurate records of worked hours to assist in monitoring attendance, payroll processing and for ease of areas to make timely patient assignments.
  • Daily adjusts staffing coverage as changes occur in census, absences, and employee turnover to provide best resources management and ideal patient care as defined in established budgeted guidelines.
  • Supervises Support (float), PRN and nursing agency personnel on individual performance to ensure quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with supervisor and nurse managers/directors regarding supplemental staffing schedule developments, resource needs, concerns, goals, admission activity, etc. to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Coordinates, reviews and conducts performance reviews to ensure that staff are appraised by the most knowledgeable direct supervisor, that the goals are measurable and individualized.
  • Participates and represents Madonna in internal and external events including career fairs, activities with nursing students, and other nursing related activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Nebraska RN license and two years clinical experience required.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR and ACLS instructor certification or must attain within first year of hire.
  • Must possess sufficient knowledge and skill in the area of nurse staffing to develop and maintain staffing patterns and supporting computer systems.
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster collaboration, team work, mentoring and principles of customer service are required.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate problem solving/critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize complete numerous requests.
